I just bought a 1986 944. It's needs some of work here and there but one thing that seems like it should be easy is taking care of the markings on buttons that are mostly or entirely faded off. Is there a stencil or sticker kit I can buy? Or maybe a DIY post I can follow to restore them to like new? I've googled and searched here but found nothing.

I have. They are basically stock stickers from what I can tell.
Just make sure you remove the faded markings and prep the surface well and you should be good to go.

Well, If I had a mint to spend, which unfortunately is not the case

Some of the prices are a bit out of whack though. I mean c'mon
$1,250.00 for a Front Seat Re-Upholstery Kit (+$50.00 for Perforated
Leather=$1,300.00)! 944/951/968.

KIT! mind you, So there is always the chance of messing the whole
project up & $1,300.00+ shipping down the drain...
I mean, I can get virtually NEW 986/987 Power Boxter Seats (OEM) on CL
for $600.00 a pair or less! & have a more modern, cofortable, better
looking seat in my 944/951/968!.
But, Hey....purist might want to keep (OEM) in their 944/951/968, I
would go another route as stated.
One last thing, I guess 928 owners have lots of money $ (big suprise, lol) to
spend at Jager's as they have 250 products for the 928 compared to
65 products for the 944 and a measly 6 (!) products for the 924!!!
