incorrect radio/cd wiring diagram. This is urgent!!
Does anyone out there now what wires & there colour go where, in relation to the raio/cdplayer in a 87 944 turbo. My wiring has been changed at somepoint,I appear to have more than the wiring diagram states. Have sorted speakers out, just need to know the important inputs, which come in from the main wiring harness into centre console.Plus there is a thin black cable running along with the antenna lead, within the protective sheath, any ideas.
All info is greatly recieved.

Hi Robin
The thin black cable is the antenna amplifier, to be powered from the radio aux/antenna contact.
Ground is brown
Power is red
You have (or should have) one constant power and one switched (probably red/white)
Anything more should not be required
TakeCare

Thanks for your info.
It is just the information needed.
One question, the previous owner has connect what appears to be the main live input(red) and switched live input(red/white ) together, any ideas what effect that is having. also there are two wires, one blue, the white or gray also in the same loom at rear of radio, not connected to anything specific, but are both connected together.Any ideas.
your help is much appreciated.

The two red wires ARE TO BE SEPARATED!!!
The switched red / white is de-energised when the contact key is out, the red is full constant power. It now feeds the hole system, even with the key out.
Dont know about the others, mine are separated and not used, still in the original connector block.
I use the switched wire for power to the radio.

Thanks hans,
Getting back to this antenna amp lead.
As far as back of radio is concerned, which connection should this go to. On my alpine cda-9839r units only available connection seems to be, either the power antenna lead(blue) or remote turn-on(blue/white).
any ideas.

Thanks max,
I think I am nearly there now.
I need to cofirm, with you top men out there the following:
2 red/white wires (connected in the same butt connector)= constant +12v supply.
1 Brown = earth.
1 brown(might be very dark red) = switched +12v supply.
1 blue wire = no direct connection to suppy.(this was connected to above in the same butt connector ) possible powering something.
Does this look right, I have double checked all other wiring charts, still dont really seem to match.
I know I keep on about this, but the last radio install, with unmarked wires, did not go quite to plan.( unit got fried)
So I would rather check it out with guys who know.
thanks
robin.
