Starter Gremlin
I just replaced the starter on my 1987 924S. Everything was fine that morning-I ran a couple of errands, I even managed to get my annual inspection sticker! Later that same afternoon, I get in the car, crank it up and hear a slight grinding noise coming from the area of the starter. Keep in mind that the engine is now running. Realizing I have a problem, I switch the ignition key off but the engine continues to run! The only way to cut power to everything is to disconnect the negative battery cable. It stops and here I sit perplexed! The starter came with a limited lifetime warranty so no problem there. Should I be suspecting a problem with the solenoid on the starter? I am assuming it may be sticking open. Should I be looking at an ignition switch problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Try the main 924/944/951/968 forum as it gets a lot more traffic than this particular forum.
If you don't get any joy there, I'd try the following:
