Post reference sensors?

I was woundering if one of the reference sensors ,attached to the clutch bellhousing, was missing would that cause the car not to start? The reason I ask is that I just completed a clutch job and one of the sensors broke when we tried to get it out. The car is all back together but wont start. Any info would be appreciated.

In a word - Yes. Both sensors must be plugged in for the car to start. I actually use to unplug mine as a theft deterent when I lived in an apartment. Seemed like a good idea at the time - but on reflection it most likely wears the darn things out faster.

If you're ever just driving and the car suddenly loses power, then one of the sensors has likely come unplugged. Go ahead, ask me how I know.
