the engine undertray, do I need one??
those pans that go under the engine compartment,Mine are missing, do I even need them? <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

When this topic has come up before, the consensus of opinion is that they ARE needed. To the best of my memory, the guys mention aerodynamics, keep things cleaner, and may even be desinged to help cool the engine compartment at speed.

Yes, exactly correct. The undertray is important to create a pressure differential for the radiator. Without the tray, the pressure differential becomes significantly less, making the radiator far less efficient.

I run my 1983 944 ITS race car without one. It is not there because the plumbing for the added oil cooler and thermostat is in the way. I can tell no difference at all in speed, engine temp, etc. I have even run on the banking at Daytona, and it is no slower without it than with it.
