"HOW MUCH FOR A CLUCH JOB"?????
#16
I paid 1200 for my clutch job about 6 months ago.
I live in orange county. My advice to you if you just bought this car at a low price. Is to insure it and drive it off a cliff. Its to late for me save yourself <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

I'm having mine done and its going to be $1925 including 15 hrs of labor at $75. Other estimates range from a low of $1200 to $2200 depending on the labor rate, whether you use an OEM or third party clutch, and the part of the country you are from. I'll be very surprised if it costs you less than $1200 - unless you do it yourself.
These cars can easily cost a lot more to maintain initially than to buy depending on what is wrong - you should make sure preventive maintenance (belts etc) is done to avoid having to total the car.

That either means the shop doesn't know what they are doing or they are padding the bill. In either event, it's about 6 hours too much. If you like the shop tell them to give you a better price.

The clutch was the first job I ever did on my car. I paid around 400 for the parts. And it took me and a friend about 16 hours over two days to get it done. There is great guidance out there on this list and other sources. It can be done for parts only. Now my car never goes to a mechanic.

I have heard that you can do a clutch job for around $900 to about $2,000. I have also heard that if you are a member of PCA, some porsche dealerships offer a discount of up to about 10% off!

Thanks for all of your thoughts on the matter with my clutch guys. I ended up getting the clutch done for the $950. I stated earlier. It took a few days but it was the cheapest I found and it is an actual business so if I have any problems I can still take it back to them and bitch like a redheaded stepchild..............lol

I replaced mine last week. (first time I've ever done a clutch) it was a pain in the ***, but it was better than trying to somehow come up with $1000.

It's about time for me to replace my clutch as well, anybody know of a good place to buy the parts?
Since I've replaced clutches in about 6 different cars and about 20 times, I think i could do it by myself or with help from a friend. BTW anyone know how to rebuild the torque tube, cause mine seems a little noisey? Any other suggestions on what else to replace while im down there?

Porsche usually charges about 2000. That is somewhat reasonable considering the amount of work it takes to change it. But they will want to install a stock clutch with the stupid rubber hub. The dealers I asked would not install a power clutch.
You could probably get it done a bit cheeper. But you are talking at least 1200.00 parts and labor. Thats if they just have to replace the clutch and bearings and the flywheel doesent need machining or replacement.
