Can anyone tell me what could be causing a loud clack-clack sound that sounds like is coming from the front axle? When I first start the car in the morning and drive a short distance it does not happen, but after the car warms up it get starts and gets louder and faster as the car speeds up. I have shifted from drive to neutral while the car is moving and it goes away, then when I put it back in drive the noise comes back. When it all started, it sounded like it was coming from the driver side wheel - now it sounds STEREO!!!
WTF.. what gives?? <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" /> <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" /> <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" /> <img src="graemlins/soapbox.gif" border="0" alt="[soapbox]" />

A few wild guesses:
Loose wheel bearings – can you feel play if you grab the top of the wheel nad rock it in and out?
Loose brake pads – check to make sure that your pads are properly secured and that they are not damaged.
It sounds a bit peculiar that you would get an RPM related noise from the front of the car only when in gear. Sound can travel in funny ways in these cars, when I had a bad clutch I swore the sound was coming from the rear of the car.
