Don't be fooled - there's no easy HP upgrade. If you are very industrious - try and build a homemade supercharger kit and bolt it in where the A/C is. If you do it right you should be able to hit the 215hp that the 951 made.
Otherwise - look at stuff you can remove from the car for lighter weight. Stay with 15" wheels.
When people tell you there's no upgrade - its only partly true. You COULD port the head - bore the block, install high-compression pistons from the euro engine - weld a custom exhaust with no cat (2.5") - bore the throttle body - get a piggyback kit for a MAF instead of the cars AFM. Lightweight flywheel. Knife edge the crank, put a scraper in. You might make about 180hp.
All that stuff is really expensive though, so expensive in fact that it really is cheaper to buy a turbo.
Or...seriously...NOS. I was very happy with my 83 engine. No complaints.
