Just replaces engine on a 1988 944 na. old engine ran but had a blown valve and many miles. rewired with same harness and now will not crank. if i jump starter it will crank but no voltage to solenoid. could i have missed a wire while rerunning harness. turn key and fuel pump will engage but no starter.

If you get no voltage at the coil check your reference sensors. Check if you swapped the connectors. Other issue might be your DME relay. My .02 cents.

Clean tha man grounds on the block with sandpaper, then clean the starter wires, then while your at it clean the battery connectors and VIOLA! It should start.

check that you connected the earth strap from the back of the block to the bulkhead.

Sounds like an earthing issue to me if it won't spin over.
Easy check ...connect a jump lead from chassis to engine block tempoarily to see if it turns over.
