Hi:
New to this forum. I owned a '99 Boxster until last october when I wrapped it around a tree. I am looking for anew one. However, I ran across a '90 944 S2 Cabriolet that looks great. I always loved these cars but had never been able to find a cabriolet that was in good shape. I think I have one.
It looks like it is in great shape. It has 62K miles, two owners, all records. My mechanic said to ask bout the timing belt. The current owner mechanic said it has not been done but otherwise the car is flawless. Obviously I will get my guy to look at it. However my guy said it would be about $2K to replace the belt and everything that goes with it. The current owner's guy said (without any prompting from me) that it would be a little over $1K. My question is what should it be? I trust my guy (he saved me from buying several wrong bad cars, saved me somne money on other stuff) but maybe the other guy can do it for less. I just want to get it done right but if I can save a fewq $ all the better.
thanks in advance for your help.
