Default Torque tube lubrication???

Just got another 1987 944 and it's in great condition with 82,000 miles...it has a little whine when accelerating and I was told the torque tube needs lubrication...sound right???

Never heard of that one...

Nope, it's sealed as far I know. But little whining is not propably from TT. Try changing oils for gearbox. Congrats on your purchase!

My 1986 did the same thing, and I changed the gear oil. I think it's a natural whine the transaxle makes..

Maybe they meant the TT bearings were shot, as they frequently are? No way to lube that though, the bearings would just have to be replaced. I can't think of a bigger PITA job on a 944. Just crank up the radio and keep truckin'.

Congrats on the purchase!
