Default 944 S2 TIMING BELT

Getting ready to replace the timing and balance shaft belts. Question, book says to inspect the rollers, sprockets, etc. How is this done and what are the signs of a bad roller or sprocket? Also I have read that you need special offset wrenches to R & R the sprockets, is this true or can a farm boy barb wire something to work?

Belts, sprockets, rollers, water pump and seals were all replaced 40K miles ago.

My preference is to just replace the belts but will do everything if warranted but don't see the need to R & R just for the sake of R & R.

it makes life a lot easier if you get the specialised tools, I got mine from Bruce http://arnnworx.com/ and if your keeping the car for a few years its a small investment...$120 for the kit

Carbonrevo, we have a mixture of cams under the cover. There is a 944S Exhaust cam and 944S2 intake cam. We run the mixture with a piggypack box that overrides values coming from AFM. Once driving season starts in Finland I'll tell how she performs.
