Dash speaker grill?

Is this an actual speaker grill cover? There is no speaker there... correct? So whats it for? Except fo crack and warp. What is behind there?

Don't forget the 944 is derived from the 924 and I suspect some models of 924 did have a speaker there.

If you're talking about the old style dash with the grill in the center, yes, there was a speaker there for three speaker systems.
