Default Recommendations for Roll Cage.

I'm looking at purchasing a 944 S2 which I will be using exclusively for DEs. I want to install the BEST roll cage (for my son and myself). The car will have driver and passenger seat. Am I correct in believing that a full welded in cage is best? I have no problem in getting a better than necessary cage, ie. one that would be suitable for racing.
I need recommendations for brand, name - and possible installer in the NY metro area?
Thanx.

I have an S2 as well and am currently installing a full cage for the same reasons as you stated.
I bought my cage from OG Racing (www.ogracing.com). Several of the guys in my pca group have them and are very happy with it.
You do need to get it professionally installed and I don't know anyone in your area. Sorry.

The only cage on their web site is for a 911. Is there another cage not on their site? Is their cage a bolt-in or fully welded?
Thanx.

Go to the racing forum. There is a very extensive thread on cage building going on now. Fired up the sawsall etc... RedlineMan is in Vestal NY and I'm sure he would build you a cage to meet your needs.

Then get a custom cage fabricated and installed. There is SOMETHING not to like about each of the several 'store bought' cages. Mostly they are all compromised by the need to fit a pre-built large piece of steel through small openings into a tight interior. And, unless you are capable of intsalling the cage yourself, the price installed will be surprisingly close to custom.

Network with folks in your area to locate the local cage guru.

And, whatever you do, don't install a cage that's 'better' than sanctioning body rules (PCA, SCCA, NASA) but not in compliance with those rules. Sooner or later you will sell the car. A non-compliant cage is an boat anchor on sales.

Thank you.
I will be having a custom cage installed locally - by someone who has done 944s and is knowledgable about the PCA and SCCA requirements.
