Default 86 944 non-turbo, Timing belt broke! Are my valves bent?

944 86 non-turbo, 235,000 miles. Today the timing belt broke. Does anyone know if the cylinders have smashed the valves apart or if I only need to replace the belt and do the timing? I know that it is a low compression engine so I am hoping that I will be lucky.

Please HELP.

Peter

You can replace the belt the do a cylinder compresion check to see if the valves were damaged. Most likely you have bent most of your valves.

Most probably you are not so lucky, but there are these "special cases" where one valve bends )or none)

Looks like you need to remove the cylinder head to find out.........

if you do a comperssion test and a leakdown test with the belt on you can see how bad the damage is
