87 944 Exhaust Question
I have a crack in the manifold and a pretty good rattle in the cat. I'm considering replacing the whole exhaust. I'd like to replace with a performance exhaust (not billy boat level - but something that will let 'er breath). Any recommendations?

I've researched the exhaust question. Even tried a "better-breathing" Danske muffler and after-market cat. Result: no improvement in performance/breathing and VERY LOUD CAR. I'd recommend picking up a stock used manifold and exhaust from a dismantler near your home, stick it in with an after-market cat (cheaper than stock .... unless you can find a good used cat at the dismantlers), and avoid the noise. There is no upgrading the performance aspect of 944 NA exhaust systems. They're as good as it gets from the factory. Anything else is just a lot of noise.
Just my $300.00 valued experience.
