Default Recharging the A/C on an early 85' NA 944

Can any of you offer me advice on how to go about getting my A/C recharged? The A/C system seems to be working fine, but it just blows air. I know the original coolant is hard to come by (R12?), so I'm not sure if I can get it, or use an alternative. I don't want to spend a lot of $ on a conversion. Thanks for your help.

We switched to 84 to R134 with no problems 2 years ago. Had someone drain the R12 and old oil. Then installed a new Condensor ? (Black tube 6" long Drivers side front of engine compartment). Took it back and the folks checked the vacuum, Installed new oil and R134. Havn't had a problem with it yer
