Default Intermittant miss under load

I know this is impossible to diagnose long-distance, just looking for some suggestions:
1985 (early) 944 NA. Has an occasional miss under load. Temp doesn't seem to make a difference, nor does RPM. Sometimes it won't do it at all but when it does, its under acceleration. Feels like one plug failed to fire on that revolution. Might happen 2 or 3 times as I run up through the gears but never at steady cruise. More likely to happen if I accelerate aggessively than if I baby it.
Any thoughts?

I'm having the same thing in my '88.

Plugs, cap, rotor are all new. Fuel system is clean with a new filter.

Other things I'm thinking might be the culprit:
Throttle switch
O2 sensor
AFM
DME coolant temp sensor
Clogged cat

What have you checked so far?

I would start by cleaning up all electrical connections especially the grounds.

also replace the ground strap to the bell housing and replace battey cables.

use dielectric grease on all the connections.

this cheap fix cured several flakey/intermittent problems I had so now I do them all every 15 to 20 years whether they need it or not !
