Question Leak from Torque converter/Pump area

Hello:
I have a leak from the Torque/Converter -Pump area.(Automatic) I cannot tell yet where the fluid is coming from. The car can be driven,(I am not driving it), the Transmission shifts smoothly. However, there is an unusual vibration from the rear. It does not vibrate except in gear whe driving. No vibration in park or neutral. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? The transimision fluid is full, it is the SAE 90 hypoid oil that is leaking. It only holds 1 quart. I am guessing that maybe I blew a line to the pump. Any info would be highly appreciated.
Good Day!

the 087/010 transaxle is very similar to the Audi 5000...(the extremely popular 010 VW tranny mated to the 087 Audi final drive). first guess would be differential bearing wear leading to failed pinion shaft seal. might be cheaper to replace the transaxle with a known good one. some have found a good diff (final drive) section with a bad tranny for almost nothing and mated their good tranny section (adding only a new seal kit)

Tom:
I found the problem pretty quick. It is the dreaded ATF/90 gear oil mix. Need new transmission, getting ready to see what the diff looks like. Thanks for the info. If anyone owns a 944 with Auto transmission, be aware, as most of you are I am sure, that when the ATF/ 90wt gear oil mix, it is a very expensive fix,as in new transmission. I knew this and kept it checked and serviced, but things happen. Keep it serviced and keep it checked.
