Question Cigarette Lighter broken & I need it for my new XM Radio

The lighter does not work and the adapter does not provide power to the XM radio when I have it plugged in. Do any of you have a suggested course of action? Thanks! Jon

Did you check the fuse for the lighter? It may be blown. Replace the fuse anyway and use a volt meter to check if you have 12V at the lighter (by sticking the + probe in the lighter socket and the - probe to ground, such as the metal outside of the lighter socket). If no voltage, then you may have a wiring problem, but that could be rather remote.

Question

That's what I'd rather do, but I have no experience with such an installation. Is it simple enough? Where can I go for instructions (XM is no help)? Thanks! JP

I don't have the owner's manual, so there is no guide to the fuse panel. I've tried looking around online, but no luck in finding the diagram. Any suggestions? Thanks, JP

If your 944 is an early 85 the fuse panel may look like the following:

Thanks Joel! This was a huge help. I'll be working on this (and a few other repairs) over the weekend. Thanks again, Jon
