Default X-post: oil leak

I already posted this in the 924/944/968 forum, but will ask here for maximum exposure.

Within the past 3-4 weeks, my 944 developed an oil leak. It's not huge, but more than a trickle. I'd imagine that if I wasn't using Mobil1 it would probably be a trickle. Anywho, I pulled off the belly pan and saw that it was coming from behind the timing belt area, between the cover and the engine. I pulled back the timing belt cover a bit and from what I saw, the belt itself was dry.

Does it look like I have a bad main seal? Any other thoughts? Costs?

Thanks,
BB.

what I would do is totally clean the area up,

then run it on axel stands and see if it leaks staright away, then I'd drive it around and do the same
then I'd drive over the course of a week and see how bad it is,

it bay just be a little bit thats dripping over a long time.

it could also be a loose bolt or housing or perished gasket, without stripping it, hard to tell

Not a big deal beer burner, the main seal is included in the front seal kit, so might as well replace them all. That is probably the hardest of the seals to get out, a really small screw driver and you can pry it out. I think you can pick up seal kits for 70 bucks or so if you look hard enough. Either way, all your timing belts will have to come off, so you may want to just look into replacing your belts and rollers at the same time.

Edit:
Not all your timing belts...lol....should read your timing belt and balance shaft belt.
