Default Switching from 3 piece OPRV to one piece

Hello all,

First time 944 owner, purchased a 1985.5 last week. Timing belt is due and oil pressure drops after 5-10 mins of running. Thought I would change the oil pressure relief valve for starters.

Removed the old 3 piece and purchased a - 944 107 035 11 one piece off eBay as new old stock. Issue I’m having is the new valve does not fit far enough for the threads to engage. I have the alignment tool and it fits perfectly (oil cooler housing was also not removed), I’ve tried lightly tapping it with a hammer to no luck. It seems as if it’s bottomed out where with the old valve I could put enough tension on the spring to get the cap threads to catch. Does any experienced owners here have any insight?

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Well after further comparison it appears you are correct. Thank you for catching that.
