Today we received our $25 tiny stupid little odometer gear and I’m happy to report the odometer is now working correctly. It wasn’t a bad job at all. The hardest part was removing the Speedo arm - we took our time not to break it. We took the opportunity to do some cleaning while the dash was apart and make sure everything inside looked to be properly connected and everything is working properly.

look at the resistors on the back of the cluster. Old school!

Here’s a couple of pics.

Check out the new factory air box. The stupid hot air intake cone filter is gone. Thanks Gage for a very complete kit at a good price. Install was a little fiddly. It was hot and I was tired and the boy wasn’t much help today.

after I installed the air box, I checked the DME temperature sender to make sure it was working and not leaving the car in warm up mode in preparation to make another run at CA smog check tomorrow.

wish us luck.

Smog test today and We passed!!! Whoo Hoo.

still high on the HC, but within the pass range. We can finally get this car registered after more than 11 years.

changes since last failure include:
new spark plugs
new spark plug wires
new oxygen sensor
new factory airbox
and probably most important, new/used catalytic converter.
