Early 1985 944 Shift Boot Installation
Hi All.
My son and I continue to sort out and recreate his first project build. I sourced an oem black leather shift knib and boot (one piece) that I'm trying ti figure out how it secures to the center console shift plate bezel.
I think I have the correct bezel for an 83-85 (early) but no idea how the leather secures to that bezel. Does it require contact glue since it seems to mount under the bezel instead of over the bezel like later models?
If someone can instruct us on this install that would be awesome.
Surprisingly the leather boot I located dies not have much wear at the shift **** and no tears I. The stitching of rest of the boot.
Thanks.
Ted V.

There's supposed to be a rectangular plastic piece that's attached to the leather at the bottom. It has tabs that click into indents in the console. Then the carpet fits over that.
