Default Am I Screwed?

Hey guys, I really need some help.

I have an 87 944 auto. Last August my flex plate and flywheel went out. I decided to do a conversion to a manual flywheel, and pressure plate.

The shop I took it took just got done doing the swap but they're telling me it will not run because the manual flywheel does not have the correct amount of flywheel position sensor points.

My question is, is there any possible way to fix this, by pass it, or something??

I've been with out a car for almost 9 months now and I can't afford to replace it with automatic parts as the flex plate it self is about $1000 on average. Can you guys think of anything I can do?

The automatic flywheel and the manual flywheel have the same TDC stud and the same number of starter ring gear teeth. Those provide the TDC sensor and the speed sensor with the right signal.

Find a new mechanic.

Are you sure, I did some research and I believe the 87 and up models have more sensor points that earlier models.

Your "research" is correct, however, as Guru points out, there is only one set screw that provides the TDC reference. The others are for an unused diagnostic sensor.

Okay thank you, so there should be no issue with the flywheel regardless of year?

As long as it is from a normally aspirated, 8 valve car.
