Default 1987 944 N/A won’t Rev past 3,000

Hey all, I have an issue with my 944 where it idles fine and revs fine until it hits about 3k rpm. After 3k rpm it’s like it hits a wall. There is no noticeable misfire or stalling, it just stops accelerating and acts like it’s going to go back to idle. I cleaned the air meter using the method on Clark’s garage which may have helped by a few hundred rpm. I put a borescope into the intake side of the air meter and after 3,000 rpm the internal gate starts to close on its own. Does this mean the air meter is bad? If so, is there a way to fix it or do I just need to replace it? Thank you!

One possibly is the fuel pressure drops. To verify fuel pressure is stable, follow Clark's Garage fuel pressure test procedure.
