Default Looking for 944 S2 Cams

Hey Guy,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my S2 motor and noticed that intake cam has chipped teeth on the sprocket. Do you know of any good 944/Porsche scrap yards I could reach out to? Or does anyone on the forum have a set?

Thanks!

Vlad

You can have your cams repaired for $725. See http://www.rsbarn.com/catalog/index....products_id=85

Looks like 944online also has them: https://944online.com/index.php/engi...-camshaft.html.

(Although, FWIW I've found their "in stock" tags to be not 100% accurate.)

Vlad, I'd be interested in knowing how many miles you had on your engine before it was rebuilt. It seems like cam sprocket and cam chain wear issues are another weak point of the S2 or 968. I have 154,000 on my engine and it runs better than new IMO (chipped with Cargraphic exhaust), but you never know when something might break! Thanks.

Hey Tom,

I actually bought this car for parts after it was in a small house fire, but ended up restoring it. I think it ran fine up until that point. The car has 160k miles. The tensioner guide was prrety worn through, which is suspect is what caused the issue. I didnt even notice the chipped teeth until I put it all together and timed it

If interested there is a pair of S2 cams on eBay that were reground by Web Cams. One has a small flaw that Web said could be fixed for $200. Price is $750 for the pair.

Heya Vlad! I've got both a pair of S cams and S2 cams in good condition if you're still looking. I've heard of some guys installing the 'S' exhaust cam on their S2. I don't know where you are, but I'm in Maryland, US. I can send some pics if you want. I'm also in the process of rebuilding my 944S engine. I'll be installing aftermarket cams.

Hey Braymond! I ended up finding a set of S2 cams. Thank you for reaching out! I heard about S cam on S2, but I don't have time to experiment at the moment.
