Post Getting 944 got some questions

Hello I’m thinking of getting Porsche 944 and was wondering if I can do some thing with the back [don’t really like it], change the front bumper to a 944 turbo if it feats or what ever good looking front bumpers out there and where would be a good place to order the parts. How hard is it to maintain this car does it break a lot and really how fast is it I hear that turbo is pretty fast but can’t seems to find one locally. What is the regular price right now for 944 good condition so I wont get ripped off :]
Thank you very much for your help

Start here:

These cars are old and they need to be tinkered with on a regular basis. Investing in doing the regular maintenance is essential, plan on at least $1,000 year; more when you first get the car

If you have the money to modify the body, as it is not cheap or easy, then you are better off getting a turbo.

944 n/a - 0-60 +/- 7.4
944S2 - 0-60 +/- 6.0
944 Turbo - 0-60 +/- 5.9
944 Turbo S - 0-60 +/- 5.5

0-60 figures are extrapolations of road tests from one of the many books on the 944 series.

An N/A is pretty much a fat little pig, it will get up and move at high speed, but low end is nothing more speacial than a honda accord. Previous post was right for about $1000 in maintenance a year. Turbo front nose panel will not fit without changing the fenders as well, as i believe the front end is wider on a turbo than it is an N/A....there are fiberwerks bumper kits that look pretty close though, so that is the route i would go. Unless there are reciepts for a timing belt and waterpump job recently, you will end up doing that right off the bat if smart, and can be a 500-1500 job, depending on if you do the work yourself. Places for parts
944online.com, lindseyracing.com (may be a hyphen in there i can't remember), vertexauto.com (though some might say they have had lots of problems with waterpumps, etc from there), there are plenty of others that i am not thinking of at the moment.
