Hi,
the video is a step by step tutorial how to replace the hydraulic valve tappets in the 16 valve cylinder head on your Porsche 944 S2. For doing this repair the camshafts and the timing chain has to be removed and reinstalled. The video serves also for this repair as a tutorial. The mandatory removing and installing of the timing belt is already explained in the video on the water pump.
The video has a German soundtrack, but English subtitles are available on YouTube. Just press the settings button below the video frame and enable the subtitles.
Enjoy it,
Jürgen

I love these videos! They have saved my bacon on all the work that I've done on my engine so far.
Ich hatte keine Chance einen Porsche zu haben, als ich in Deutschland gewohnt habe, sonst haette ich ein paar Bierchen mit dem Star diesen Clips gesucht zu haben. (It's been a while, I hope that's understandable)
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers

My wife and I lived for a few years in Dresden, but moved back to the US in 2010. It was a lovely time in our lives and, if we can ever travel again, someplace we'd love to go back to.

Hi,
great! Dresden is one of the most beautiful towns in Germany, I have been there. When you'll come to the Germany again, you should consider to visit also the southwest of Germany. We could drink our beer in Heidelberg or in Stuttgart, the Porsche Museum there is a must.
Greetings,
Jürgen

There is always something magical about listening to someone tell you how to fix a Porsche in German. He could be telling me to do the absolute wrong thing, but dammit I am doing it the way the German tells me!

Your videos have helped me with many projects!! Thank you for all the work you do to put them up.
Question, how often should the chain be replaced (If at all?) I have replaced my tensioner pads 6 years ago and plan on changing them again in the next couple of years but I believe the chain is original. My car has 166000 miles. Some people recommend replacing the chain and tensioner while others say the pads are the only part that needs to be replaced.

That's sort of how I did it when the tensioner pad went along with the camshafts. Only thing I'd add is paper towels in the oil galley drains so if something does fall down it doesn't go into the engine. Easy to grab with the magnetic wand.
I think I built the cam removal tools out of wood when I did it, didn't realize there were official tools. Then again I took a year to do it.
