Help solving early 944 '84 stereo power trouble
My stereo stopped working recently and I'm not sure why but it did exhibit some strange symptoms.
My stereo makes a beeping sort of goodbye chime when the car is powered off, and the other night when I was driving (no music playing) it randomly made that chime, I thought nothing of it, until the next day when I realized it wasn't turning on or didn't have power ,no lights nothing. It's an aftermarket sterio the previous owner had installed, and up until now, I've had no trouble what so ever. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks!

Check the fuse first, then the relay. The radio power relays in these cars can't handle that much current. If you have a late model high power radio it could really tax it. This relay is located on the left side of the center console under the dash. There are probably two down there; it's the one further from the firewall, and it also handles power for the sunroof...It's this weird DME-like relay that is NLA, so if it's bad you'll probably have to locate a good used one.
