Just rebuilt the rack out of my parts car, and got it in my car today. On center it feels fine but anything past 30 degrees of turning it gets really stiff and binds. The steering won't even track back to center. Obviously the first thing I checked was the adjustment for the cup on the rack, but I had it all the way backed off and this was still happening. The rack and pinion looked perfect when I had them out, no gouging, very little wear, even the bushing in the end was perfect and snug. What could be causing this binding? I'm almost certain I assembled the cup correctly. It goes cup, spring with that coin size plate inside of it, then the cap bolted with the two 10mm bolts compressing the spring, then threading in adjustment screw then lock nut. This is correct right? It almost seemed as just having the cap compress the spring was too much pressure itself. Please let me know what you think, thanks!
