haynes is good for most things.

I like pelicanparts.com for parts.

Searching through this forum - the 924/931/944/951/968 mixed bag forum gets more traffic, but more crap also!

Also check your rennlist private mail.

Jenya,

Unless you have a good Porsche head on your shoulders a Haynes manual is as good as a chocolate teapot !

get the workshop manual (there are CD's available also .pdf files) these are cheaper than tyhe real thing, 300 bucks real price.

but they are VERY good, there are 6 volumes in all.
and trust me there good,
also look at clarks garage and alldata websites ALLDATA is very good !

HTH

Default Haynes Manual

Hi

Haynes manual may not be as good as workshop manual, but you must have some auto mechanic knowledge to want to undertake doing the project. I completely rebuilt my 944 engine using Haynes manual and the help of a lot of good folks at Rennlist. I'll admit there are a few rough spots in the manual, but this is not too bad I found.

Good luck if you do the project, I had fun doing mine and learned a lot. Keep as informed.

I bought a lots of parts also. P.A.P. Porsche was where I bought my parts. They were very helpful and the price was right.

haynes manual i have one, and it doesnt help me at all, with the complicated things it says take to dealer. Im not paying a dealer anything they overprice ahella, which i can do anything on that car by myself. If you can give me a website for the CD manual you are talking about that would be great. But if not im goinjg to keep searching because im restoring my 944 to the full extent and need guidlines because i have never worked with such an engine as the 944, very different from all the amrican cars that i have delt with in the past.

The Haynes manual is about as worthless as **** on a boar.

Post over on the main 944 forum and if you are nice someone will burn you a CD of the 6 volumes as well as the PET CD. I'd copy you but my CD drive is recently toast and I haven't replaced it yet.

some dude on e-bay was selling the cd version for $30. supposedly it's the full 12? volume set. Hopefully I'll be getting mine in the next couple of days. I agree, the hayes manual is junk. Since I stripped out the timing belt, I need something better than a general overview. That, and I never claimed to be a mechanic, although I did swap out a subaru engine once.

If you want a set of the manuals and not a CD you might try My Porsche. Also IIRC, I think that I have seen sets in both Mid-America (Tweeks) and Performance Products. Paragon may sell them as well. Expect to spend close to $300 with S&H.

There is also a spec book. It runs about $26 and is nice to have around so you don't have to go digging through the factory manuals.

It's nice to have both a Haynes and the Porsche manuals as well.
