Clicking noise from rear passenger tire area
Hello guys,
My 1983 944 has started making a clicking noise from the rear end/transmission area, closer to the passenger side I believe.
A few important things to note
It only makes the sound when the car is in gear and moving, however when the clutch is in or the car is in neutral there is no noise.
The noise is only audible when accelerating or occasionally accelerating through a corner, especially uphill (more stress on the back tires?)
The noise is much more audible when accelerating hard, especially from a stop.
It also only makes the noise after about 15 - 30 minutes of driving.
Side note: It has the original shocks, I'm pretty sure this isn't the issue but I'm not too sure. As far as I'm aware I should replace them but they aren't the issue for this problem.
I'm don't know much about cars but I'm willing to do my research.
I've found threads from people having similar issues but haven't been able to come to a solid conclusion.
My guess is maybe a CV joint or bearing.
Thank you.
Edit: The car also has about 76,000 miles

Let me apologize right now because I am going to be not much help. However, your post sounds exactly like one that I read a while ago; maybe you've already found it, and it's one of the inconclusive ones.
What I remember was it being a CV joint, and it was identified by removing the axle from the side the noise seemed to be coming from, and flipping it 180 degrees (meaning wheel side to trans, trans side to wheel), pretty sure that's not an issue, then reinstalling it. My memory is hazy about this, though, so take that for what it's worth. I remember that seemed to do the trick and, at the very least, nail down what was causing the noise.
I'm sure more experienced wrenches will come along and chime in.
Good luck, no matter what.
ETA: Welcome to the forums, and apologies for not starting off with that!
Cheers
