Default Vacuum Leak / Leaking Cam Cover

After I recently inspected my cam chain tensioner, I noticed that the car had a subtle growl feel (felt thru the accelerator), the power seemed a bit off and I was starting to experience some oil consumption.

I had time to check it out this weekend and I could see where the oil was leaking from the cam cover. I found that three of the cam cover bolts were a touch loose (about 1/4 to 1/2 turn).

What a difference. The car is smooth once again, the power is back, and the oil consumption has stopped.

It does not seem that such a small thing should have such a large effect. These cars must be very sensitive to vacuum leaks.
