Default ‘85 944 overheating idle

so a normal drive my temp gauge goes up to 3/4 line and little past and then my thermostat opens and it goes back down to about half. normally staying within 1/2 and 3/4 never over. now with summer here in the heat of texas. when i stop driving for. red light or heavy traffic, my gauge will creep all the way to red. as soon as i begin to move it goes back down to a 3/4.
so, i already hate it staying at 3/4 and with it being so hot i don’t want it to over heat. all fluids are good, no leaks, only begins to over heat at idling. what can i do to help this situation

Are your fans running when the needle goes into the red?

My runs a little hot on the gauge. I put a thermocouple on the coolant outlet and it was right (Gauges ran a little high). You may not be running hot.
