1983 HVAC Control Head Wiring
Does anyone have an accurate wiring diagram for the HVAC control head.
The 1983 current flow diagram, Part VIII, shows more connections than exist, and I can't find the AC On/Off button on any of the sheets.
The 1984 wiring diagram seems to match but doesn't show any wiring colors.
Any info would be appreciated.

Three Wheelin'
Button?
Phil -
just had my unit out ('83 US model). Not trying to send you down the wrong path but it does not have an AC button on the warning panel. Mine is the climate control version.
i have three connections on the head - two multipin slide on miles type connectors similar to what connects to the instrument panel, and one typical 'porsche' connector with large round pins.
will try to send some pics tomorrow - wonder if your head unit was swapped out at some point or a different warning panel used?

IIRC, I think the HVAC head unit changed between 1983 and 1984. The AC head unit from an 84 will work on cars up to 1995, but there will be no recirc available when using an older head unit. It will power the compressor and the AC blower, though.
Okay. now I'm second guessing myself: Did it change from 83 to 84 or was it from 82 to 83? I still think it's 83 and 84.

That's what I thought, but I have CRS and just needed a reminder.
So Phil, if you have a Head unit from 84 (928 573 060 09), it won't work correctly in your 83 (928 573 060 05).

Thanks to all. That helps a lot.
Mine is the later model with only 2 connectors, both on the left side. I didn't realize the earlier version had connectors on both sides, which explains why the circuit diagram lists both L & R.
Makes me wonder if I should be using the 1984 wiring diagram for all work on my car and not the 1983.
Any thoughts on that???
Also, is there a wiring diagram for an 84 that shows the wire colors?

Phil,
Are you sure that someone didn't replace a previously faulty head unit with an incorrect one?
That being said, what is your VIN#? Maybe you actually have an 84 model?
And finally, Porsche did some weird stuff between 83 and 84, so they might have used 84 wires in your 83.
Good Luck.
