Default CPS Replacement Adventure

Kevin Wilson and I completed the engine R & R after an electrical short that took out the wires from the DS coil to the CE panel that was the result of something related to the use of the rear defroster. ( Kevin can fill you in on that ).

Replaced engine harness from the CE panel to DS coil. Had to pull the engine to do that.
Replaced CE panel with exact replacement (.14, I think I remember.)
Repaired the CPS harness connector.

Once everything was hooked up, the car would start and immediately stall.

We swapped MAF, LH and EZK computers without success.

We found that after an initial period of starting the injectors and spark plugs stopped firing.

After some false starts I replaced the CPS with a used one I had repaired.

Started right up.

So far Kevin has bought two new CPS connectors and neither worked. The one we started with was purchased from Roger, the next two were sourced from AutoAtlanta and Pelican. Start and stall. So, back in goes my used one and it fires right up.

The CPS at the connector all ohm'd around the same within 8ohms.

I'd say your issue is with the car side connector, not the CPS units.

That was replaced with a new one and by a real automotive electrician - which I am not. We wiggled the harness while the car was running and nothing changed.

If memory serves the Ohms ranged about 1020-1030 on the three of them. I'd suspect a weak signal to the CPS. It's with Kevin W. now. Maybe he'll add to this.
