Boot/hood sticker questions
2 questons:
1. What are the digits/letters behind the "-" in the engine code and trans code? Often 3 digits/letters each(but might also be only 2?)
2. Are all 928's "TYPE 928 920"?

1. I don't know what the additional engine and trans codes #s refer to.
2. There are a bunch of different order codes for the body type, it's a little convoluted. I don't know what the differences are, I think it's related to the transmission hump / floor pan configuration. Hopefully this table makes sense:

Body type isn't straight US vs ROW but more like LHD vs RHD and rear side marker light position or not in the body besides gearbox hump Rob already mentioned. In some cases M650 sunroof or not might also have affect. It seems Porsche didn't bother to make so many variants any more on later years. This probably meant they had to modify raw bodies somewhat at the start of the production line depending on what car was going to end up being.
Engine and trans code gives little more info on what car should have. In this case they basically say engine stamp should be same G model year as car and gearbox is automatic one. In case of US M718 VIN model year change option code cars I would expect engine and gearbox MY to be different than body MY since engines and boxes were same as in ROW cars build at same time and thus share same number sequence.
