Engine swap question
I have an 83 euro with 4.7 engine /manual Trans.
The engine has expired.
I also have an 87 S4 manual parts car.
Is it feasible to fit the S4 engine into the 83 .
Any help, advise appreciated. Thank you.

You can swap it in. They bolt in the same way.
The wiring is a whole other animal though. You are going from mechanical injection to electronic with digital ignition with vastly different wiring harnesses.
It would make more sense to get a used 4.7 or rebuild your existing engine.

Feasible? Probably not.
Possible? Maybe. You'd need to figure out the fuel injection and the ignition. Fitting the brains out of the S4 into your 83 would basically require transferring the entire electrical system over too. Without the dedicated assistance (assistance in this case means "have him do it all") of an electrical genius who knows the 928 inside and out (Alan maybe, nobody else on here is even close) you would likely be screwed.
An alternative would be an outside FI & ignition system. Mega Squirt is a popular FI setup. Don't know about the ignition, but I'm sure they are out there. Not going to be cheap, and would (again) require an expert to set it up for you.
Far better, easier and cheaper would be a 16v long block swap. Your injection and ignition could simply be moved over to the new engine, bolt it in and go.
Good luck.
