1982 Bamboo Beige 928, Now Mine
I just got back from the Denver area where I picked up the 82 Bamboo Beige 928 that I recently bought from Wally and Susie. Wally had previously owned a 944 and loved it, but he could not quite find the same level of enjoyment out of the 82 928. And, it needs a few items that he thought were likely to be kind of expensive, so he listed it to the Rocky Mountain Sharksters. I saw his listing early and jumped on it both because of the color and because of the color. By that I mean that I am really fond of the color, and the color is fairly rare, I think.
The car has the early 3-speed Auto trans. The interior is dark brown, and is in fair shape, but worthy of some nice leather upgrade by me and Doug. The car has 66K miles and is in really overall great original condition.
Here are the pictures, but I got busy with the loading in my trailer and stopped taking pictures of the loading process. It went well and was about a 4 hour drive home.

Someplace online I saw a listing of Porsche colors and it includes 9 different shades of Beige. My son, Tim, owns a 77 911S that is very close to this one. His is called Sahara Beige.

I'm starting to worry about you a bit. "Get all you can before the hoarders get there!" has been a lifelong motto. You seem to be taking it to another level.
Congrats on what looks like an interesting find.

Thanks Guys (I think). Wally was pretty fond of the job someone had done on the front seat bottom inserts, and he even recommended them to me for the driver's seat back repair. However I am a bit more picky than him and find the job on the seat bottom, as shown in the picture, is one of the worst jobs I have ever seen.
Wally says that there is a small leak from the trans; the 85 mph speedo is inop; and the HVAC works either full hot or full cold, nothing in between. I have a couple of 85 mph instrument clusters and hope to use one or the other to fix that. I have also printed out a lengthy article about diagnosing the HVAC and hope to find the answer in that.
The engine compartment is really clean and orderly, for that old of a car, but I forgot to check for the jump post cover. I bought this car sight unseen and have no complaints about it. It is just as advertised (and much better) and runs great. Can you notice the clear bra stuck to the front?

The "Full hot or full cold" temp issue might be the exterior temp sensor.
It's in the alternator cooling hose.
If it goes bad (or more likely, the plug isn't making a good connection), then you get the "cold or hot" situation.

Thanks Joe. That is the first thing I was going to check. I think that is one thing pointed out in the article I downloaded which I read about before I decided I may need the whole article. I hope you are right.

An interesting aspect about this 928 is that Wally bought it from the owner of one of the places in the Denver area that is reported to be a good place to take your 928 for service. However, Walley said that one thing that bothered him about the car was that most everything he found himself doing on it or for it amounted, he thought, to curing deferred maintenance items.

It was built in November of 81. Looks like, from some documents that came with it, that it was first owned by the classic "Little Old Lady from Pasadena," actually. Then she moved to Arizona and sold it to the guy in Golden CO who I think was the owner of the car repair shop. Then to my predecessor, Wally, now me.
The paint is original and looks to be in near pristine condition. There is about one hand full of tiny paint chips in various places that I think can be touched up. I'll have to see if I can find the correct touch up paint color. No evidence of rust anywhere. Another indicator of condition is that the interior rear quarter panels are totally straight - - no deformation at all.
No jump post cover and cap, so it looks like I'll need to get back to my project on those.
