Default Introduction: 1982 928

Hi everyone. New guy introduction:

My my name is Adam, I live in Ventura County, California and this 1982 928 w/ 81k miles on it is the first Porsche I've owned. Apparently it was restored to match the car in Scarface.

First, the fun part - pictures:

I'm a professional photographer / designer / marketer (http://www.adamcharlesgeorge.com/). I have no mechanical background, but this beautiful car just kind of fell into my lap (I traded it for photography work), and I want to keep it in great shape / improve it over time.

The two previous owners that I know of (going back to 2011) spent a good amount of money having this car restored (major work by GK Restorations) and only put 3k miles on it during those 6 years. I plan to drive it a lot more than that. So far, all I've really done is replace the headlight relay, making the headlights illuminate, and put new tires on it.

The car drives great and is in very good condition, but I do have a list of things that need to be done, should be done and that I'd like to do. I just hope I can afford it because I really love it!

That's a seriously great looking 928. Probably the nicest looking one from a first time owner that I've seen posted here. Congrats!

G'day and Welcome, Brilliant intro!!!! Stunning car!!!

Yes you can afford it, the guys here will talk you through step by step, you will be a mechanic when they are done!!!!

Read the New Visitor sticky if you have not already, a stack of info in that thread.

Look forward to seeing more of her out and about, these cars will give you less trouble if regularly driven, IMO.

Kiwi

(Ummmm, Daniel, he has pics...)

Great looking car and photo quality. Watch your fingers around the cooling fan, the safety cage around it looks to be missing.

Congratulations. You've got a special car, very smooth. Some prefer an S4 or later overall, but nothing beats the pure 928 shape.

The first thing I noticed, however, was the excellent photos. I've been a professional photographer for the past 20 years, so you can take heart that I've been able to learn how to do serious mechanical work on a 928 with the help of forum members. On the other hand, my previous career was such that I've been accused of being a rocket scientist. Back to the photography business, we both know it's a mistake to fall for the "We'll give you a photo credit" offer, instead of money; some 928's are worth even less than a photo credit. Time will tell!

Check out the "S-reflection" thread for something related to photographing shiny objects. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...on-thread.html
