Deoxit
Just a simple question I hope, I went to buy some the other day and there are lots of choices. If you were to have one container of Deoxit, what would be the most useful choice, ease of application, value, shelf life, etc.?
Thanks for the advise, JD

Randy, when I looked up CAIG Deoxit and saw there product line I saw too many choices, really don't think I need 1 of each so figured Id ask. I was planning on just an amazon purchase. Any other suggestions?

Well, I was only able to find the "D5" at the local Radio Shack (RIP).
So that's what I've been using.
It's pretty handy because it is "watered down" and has lots of 'carrier liquid'. That lets me give it a good dousing and wash all the crap away.
The concentrated '100' version is more expensive, and I wouldn't use it in that way.
As always: YMMV, close cover before striking, no warranty express or implied.

If it was to be reduced, ( the 100 ) if it can be, what would be used, also has anyone experienced any damage to surrounding material , ie plastic, paint etc. and also you made comment of rinsing? this is necessary ?

the D100 will remove more corrosion, BUT it takes about 24 hours before full connectivity is seen.
The D5 is more like CRC elex cleaner, good for washing out junk,
then add the D100

No damage to surrounding plastic (CE panel), paint (wiper motor & housing). No rinsing after.
It's more of a "washing out" as Stan noted. The D5 is thin and relatively cheap. I spray it rather generously and anything it loosens up is flushed away.

We have an awesome electrical supply store here in KC...they carry several varieties of Deoxit as well. I use D5. Just replaced the CPS on my car (ran great the previous night next day nothing...spent about 2 or 3 hours making sure it wasn't fuel/spark/relay related) and made sure a nice coating was on the connector to the engine wiring harness before plugging those together...I'm sure I'll have many many years of trouble free service from that connection...It's expensive but it's worth every time as far as I'm concerned...every time I use it ....never any complaints.

Deoxit is worth every penny. It costs more because it does more. In a previous thread I posted a picture of treated and untreated CE contact tines. Complete oxidation removal. The 100 spray is regulated...giving a consistent small burst into each socket. Spraying/flushing with CRC stuff and returning after it dries for the 100 contacts treatment would be a good plan.

I use the D5 for flushing/rinsing of connections, and when clean with that, use D100 as the finishing touch.
Every time I use my trailer connector, which is constantly exposed to water and road spray on both plugs, I flush them with D5 only, and the trailer lights work every time, compared to rarely before.

Not to be redundant, but are we talking about this little baby right here?
Only found the 100 in a 2 oz. spray or with an applicator. Is there a larger one? I saw 5 oz. container written but cannot find if it is actually available.
