Default Should I repaint or do a wrap?

What are the costs to do a high buck paint job or a wrap? Only 928 wrap job I've seen is RJs car at the Hell GTG.

High end paint with labor $20k, almost half that if you can arrange to take car apart and put back together.

Wrap...is nice, but has different owner/care needs than paint.

I'd go with Austin Embry. aka: kiln_red...a professional P&B guy and also a fellow RL'r, and Sec of the 928 O.C. He has done plenty of 928's and does excellent work. IIRC he paints the 928 properly for approx. 11k-12k. You can save approx $ 2500 if you can dissesemble and reassemble the front & rear bumper covers, etc. Austin is located near Bowling Green, Kentucky and uses Glasurit base/clear that Porsche uses. T

I need to check with Austin as I have a GTS wing and aero mirrors that need to be painted. I'd like to use the Glasurit 55 line if he can get it. That's what Dan used on the Turq car. If it was good enough for Dan, it'll be good enough for me.

If you are at all concerned about later value, I would wrap.

The reason is this, you can take good pictures of the paint prior to the wrap, and then, let the next owner decide, if he really wants to paint over the original paint.

The question I am not 100% sure about is, can you really take wrap off without pulling the paint off?

With an exceptional/rare car like yours, I would definitely repaint it.
Of course, if it needs it...

If you only wrap it without any prep like fixing chips etc., it will show.
If you prep it well, the original paint will be destroyed anyway.

How many '91 there is like yours?

But that's me...

The 3m 1080 wrap "should" be taken off within 3 years, or risk messing up your existing paint. Nobody ever talks about this.

Wraps only look good from certain angles, from other angles- they just look like a $300 paint job.

So just paint it

If I were in the market for a car, I would avoid one that's been wrapped

The wrap appears to be a short term solution. I also wonder what it costs to remove it when someone wants to repaint it down the road.

Did you try just washing it yet?, or, just sell it as is, let the next guy spruce it up, then buy it back for less than what you sold it for.

I'm in the middle of a windows-, trim-, interior-out repaint.

$20k is a starter price for a almost-can't-tell-it-was-painted job.

If you don't care about overspray and painted parts (that shouldn't be painted) then repaint for less.

I'd wrap.

I would never wrap any of my own cars. I would always think "It's just a wrap, the real car is under there somewhere. Almost can't remember how it really looks". And, it's a mess to remove, I have done it twice. Not recommended.

If the car has original paint at this point, I would not do anything about it (given it looks like on your posted pic). It loses history and value. Very nice car by the way

W raping is ghetto, you open the door and see the original paint.

That's like saying the same thing about painting. If you do a crappy job, it will be crappy. I've seen good wraps that did the door jambs, etc.
