Why are some keys red, others black?

Default Why are some keys red, others black?

Just wondering... On 928 keys.

Same as the new Mustang. The red key is for track mode, adds 50hp.

valet mode red
driver black
the black key is longer to work the alarm , doors hatch

The black key is Ron Jeremy and the red one is the guy that jumped out of the trunk in Hangover 1

Hmmm, although funny, is there actually a real answer, I ask, as my 82 only has a red key....what does the valet key do? Am I boned?

I know there is a difference between the two.

I'm not sure but I think you can't open the glove box and hatch with the red one (valet key).

Edit: The valet key in my car is black also. But shorter (if I remember well - would need to check).

I actually have 2 red keys. 1 opens the hatch and the other starts the car.

My 78 has a red and a black

I recently bought a new hatch lock from my local porsche dealer. It came with a red key.
