Ok so I am about to pick up my dads '87 928s4 it has 19K miles and it a 1 owner car. It has not run in at least 5 years (he tells me he parked it in Oct 2012 and it has not moved or been started since that date).
The car has a Paxton supercharger kit on it with Cryo2 injection (pretty slick setup, he was going to track it with me but he decided against it and shelved the car). All the work for the supercharger was done professionally (cant find the receipts for which kit it is in this mass of receipts he has on the car). The car ran great after being completed and was running just 5psi boost.
Now with that said, I am not a 928 guy, I tracked a 930 for years and now I track a 944 turbo, so I am familiar with working on those 2 models. So working on them doesn't scare me (I do my own timing belts on my 944s).
Where do I start. I will be getting the car this weekend (so I will post photos then) so we will be using the winch in my trailer to load the car and get it home.
Will drain all the fluids and change those. I will inspect the timing belt, hoping they are easy to check like the 944s are. Are there any known issues I need to look for. Been reading the forum for the last 2 days but there is so much great detail here it is hard to make a list on what I need to do first to this car before attempting to get her running.
Thank you for reading this and looking forward to getting her running and driving.

Apparently it is true you can't pick your parents or I would chose yours. ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
Having said that timing belt, water pump need to replaced based on years and time sitting. Fresh gas, full coolant change (G-05) and oil change are a given.
Then drive it!

First off welcome to the Tank. That car has to be an absolute beast! Love it.
Please read the New Visitors FAQ section, all 4 pages. And I would recommend you read that before even trying to start the car to be on the safe side.
The knowledge on this forum is just plain staggering, and freely shared.

Thank you for the quick reply.
Funny this is the only Porsche my dad has, he has like 6 corvettes (I think that's why it sits since its not a Vette lol).
That doesn't sound too bad. I guess I will need to get some service manuals to see how to swap the water pump and timing belt (sounds like my 944 turbos, I swap those every 3 years). The remainder gas, coolant and oil sounds like basics.

I have an extra set of service manuals should need them. These are also available on CD from one of our members.

Yes that would suck being 100 miles from civilization. I already live on the edge of civilization where I am.

This was apparently a kit he bought forever ago (I will see if I can dig up the receipt this weekend also). I will post pics of the car and SC setup this weekend.
