Doc Mirror "J/K, but will there be a tech session? I would say, for these cars any kind of tech session with an expert like Merlin, or another east coast guru would be a fine addition."
That said I spoke with Curt regarding garage space and Stan who offered to do a tech session Sat morning. Stan will be modifying the existing windshield washer system, removing rusted fittings, etc. More here: http://members.rennlist.org/v1uhoh/windshie.htm https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...mp-repair.html https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...er-system.html |
No offense, but that's a pretty thin tech session. However, the focus of the trip is not technical, but enjoyment of the area, and a convivial gathering of like minded -- nuts? lolz.
I was sincerely hoping to make it up there, but circumstances further west have changed my plans. I bought a 12-sided, custom built house in the mountains at a place called 'Timberon' and looks like I'll be spending a lot of time up there. Also, having shot a few bucks into R/E, I don't really want to strain the budget to swap engines in the 928 just for this trip. Having said that, if the weather is perfect, and the timing is right I might fly up, and ask for a ride to the location. But, chances are I won't make this one. |
I think the washer re-plumbing job will go on for some time, and folks will just want to monitor it loosely. We'll have shorter things going on simultaneously: proposals wanted.
I have in mind some sort of panel discussion at the "car show" Saturday afternoon, on a variety of topics: price trends, future maintenance challenges, how to judge cars on the market, how to use an automatic, etc. We might want a short presentation for the public and/or those unfortunate Porsche owners without a 928. But, as said, the important activity is guys standing around and talking about their cars. We'll have a good crew for that. Just got a whiz-bang PA system delivered just now. Hey, Shawn! A USB drive with your excellent 928 play list would great.... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...4aa580cc5f.jpg |
The Pine Tree has a cabin and a room available. The cabin has one bed, the room two. 518-494-3429
I went down to see the proprietor, Norleen. She mentioned how she enjoys a curvy road, and she was soon enjoying a ride in my 928, to the Rite Aid and back. Let me also suggest The Chester Inn. http://thechesterinn.com . It's being operated by the guy I just got the 911 from. It's a B&B, but you get a voucher for any meal at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor next door - his main business and a favorite of the locals. |
Jay and I are already getting our cars ready, I have a cam seal leak that needs fixing, and I need to replace the rack bushings. Not a fun set of jobs. I have a lower brace to stiffen the A arm mounts. my suspension and wheel tire combo very aggressive. I am running 9.5x17 60mm offset at all four corners. Tires are 255/40 front and 285/40 Rear. This event is just the incentive to get projects completed.

See you all Saturday morning! |
Registered and paid, bringing my mechanic (Julia, my 17yr old who wants to go into Automotive Engineering - she even did the brakes on my Cayenne!). Unfortunately won't be coming until Saturday as I have a HS reunion weekend to attend to - I'm blowing off the main Reunion event Saturday to attend Camp but at least will get to see some of the guys I haven't seen in 35 years on Friday night. Julia also has something called "Skule?' on Friday...
Wonder how many of us will be starting off our stories of lore with: 'One day, at 928 Camp....'. |

Thanks, everyone, for contributing to this inaugural event. I'm going to enjoy it, probably.
The detailed planning work continues: I stopped at Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon in Minerva today. One of the fun runs I'm thinking of would head there for lunch, then off to Newcomb and Sublime Wilderness. Sporty says this would not interfere with their annual garden tractor pull being held out back. Our more genteel participants will be able to choose a fun run in other directions. |
OK bitches where do I collect my prize for coming from the farthest!
Can't wait to put some names to faces. |

All prizes shall be awarded by acclimation. Wait - acclamation. I mean, by a drunken mob.
It snowed a little last week. Now it's in the high '80s. Got blank polo shirts in yesterday; first batch off to embroidery tomorrow. Those bringing a guest: please let me know if I should have a shirt for them, and what size. $20. |
