Sounds like a good time! I wouldn’t mind setting something up. I will definitely need a deadline to motivate me to get the car done. A year and a half is probably the soonest for me.
Here is a courtyard we can use for the display area for the pre-production cars: Perhaps Porsche would enjoy doing a product introduction at this time as well.
This would be the lawn for the other early cars and display area for other 928's and Porsches that attend...
If its worth doing, its worth doing right...
I'd say July or August of 2021 seems reasonable for getting the cars ready...
We can invite the motoring press to this venue for sure.
I would vote for the 1st 100 cars. That way we motivate Ron (#30) and a few others.
Hey Harvey,
Thanks for the weigh in: If things move forward I'll put a poll up to see if the interest is serious.
I do know that our old "Sharks in Hell" event in Michigan has fallen by the wayside and it might be fun to replace it with something up here in the great white north with a broader palette of cars invited... Its all speculation for now...
Sure would be fun to get a fleet of significant 928's together... Perhaps sometime after the PGP event as there is only so much time people have for events that have significant travel involved.
Had a chat with Drooman yesterday about this event and Number 1 & 2 will likely be there. Perhaps that will be when number 2 comes to my garage to begin life at its next owners garage...
Time to start locating all of those journalists from the original event? How many are still alive?
I would assume you have very deep pockets. If so, no doubt some form of deal can be made. These are not going to be anything you can price out by the Hagerty guide. The ones found and known to exist are where they are and I assume would take serious collector money to move them.
That's my car, #11. Revs Institute is a good place to find a lot of pics from the launch. I check back there from time to time as one or two new ones will be added as they come across them.
