Dash out. Tested AT bulbs and all work. Shall, spray with contact cleaner, put back together and hope it was just a faulty connection somewhere(s). Any ideas on how to test installed in the instrument cluster out of the car. ie which connector contacts light up the AT bulbs?
Not a complete waste of time as wanted to install blue LEDs (Jager) for backlight anyway.
BTW RHD car did not have as many steps to remove as detailed on https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...light=key+bulb . ie steps 1, 2, 3, 4 not required. Although is an allen key (quite a long bolt) buried way up under the pod on the centre console side. A pig to get at.

The neutral safety switch on the trans sends the power to the lights. It is just behind the lever that the shifter cable attaches to on the left side of the trans. The wire from that switch goes up inside the car to the right front corner of the spare tire well...check the plug in connections.

Bulbs in cluster all okay, fuses all checked & cleaned, neutral safety pulled & cleaned, connections appear okay. But still only reverse light working. Any other suggestions?

TIA, Jim

I let a local Eurpean specialist garage look at my problem. Still not solved although have eliminated a number of possibilities. Current thinking is a damaged or broken wire(s), possibily in the Central Electric area. No power is reaching the neutral safety switch. Maybe passengers have been careless with their feet, or previous "fiddlers" have damaged the harness or connection. I shall brave the circuit diagrams myself tomorrow.

Unfortunately they have left me with only one of the four backlit lights working. Suspect they have put the LEDs in the wrong way around. Shall also check tomorrow. Oh Joy!

Yet another problem is that I now have a broken rear heated window switch (not staying in when pushed, or snapping in position when turning or off). Would welcome a schematic or two of how this goes together so that I can see if I can prepare. According to the garage it has a broken tab. Perhaps this can be carefully welded. Otherwise I guess I will need to source a replacement.

Thank you. Jim

See Jim Bailey's advice above. That switch is a common failure and an easy, albiet pricy, fix.

The display lights are standard filament bulbs - they cannot be installed 'backwards'.

Latest news.
Problem traced to neutral safety switch (Thanks JB). Not sure I understand, but seems wiring dodgy. Auto electrician re-soldered and all dash indicator lights working now. He has recommended replacement, so I need to source in/from New Zealand.

Yes, but I had replaced the backlit bulbs with LEDs. These are uni-directional. At least I am getting quick at re-moving and re-installing the Instrument Cluster.

Still to examine the Rear Heat switch. Some "leftover" bits were left for me in the centre tray, so may be able to repair. Otherwise 928Intl to the rescue...

Thanks guys.

I have replaced the "selector switch" (the one with the big wiring harness fed to it) in the past...no luck.
