I am having overheating issues with my 1987 928. Newer owner. She is getting a thermostat and coolant flush next week along with a few other punch list maintenance items.
It takes about 4-6 miles or 10 - 15 minutes of driving for it to peg all the way to the top white line....both on spirited drives and grocery runs. AC is running too.
...hoping its an easy fix like Mongo's
I really do enjoy reading the threads...the support, sarcasm...good stuff.

While a bit alarming, running on that last white line is not necessarily overheating or running hot. You should read the temps on the radiator hoses using an ir gun at the inlet/outlet to determine actual temps. The gauges can be innacurate, and/ or the needle does move in response to slight temp changes

King, did you resolve your issue? The thermostat change on mine really kept temps down. I stuck with the lower temperature thermostat replacement (83C I think).
EDIT: 75C is the low-temp thermostat. 83C is the FACTORY.

I haven't got her back yet, but I did get an update from the Tech on Friday that it had a Chinese part on it. Getting my oil cooler lines replaced too and will know more when I get it back on Wednesday, I hope.

There needs to be an embargo on all imported Chinese parts. I bought a power steering reservoir that was manufactured in China and the damn thing was seeping at the seam. It made a mess out of my freshly cleaned engine compartment. ![grr](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/cussing.gif)
I don't trust anything from them, not even Panda Express fortune cookies...and those are made here!

Jeff, for some reason, my car has always ran 'really' hot with the regular thermostat (83c) in it. I figured it was just the cooling flaps staying closed in traffic. I removed the fuse, which helped air flow at speed, but no success in stop 'n' go.
With the 75c, the fans come on when it almost gets to the upper white mark, but never goes above like it did with the 83c. Since we live in CA, we know it doesn't get scorching hot here like in Arizona or Texas for example. However, my car for some reason just 'likes' the 75c thermostat. I'm not going to change it back either.

quick update. I got her back today. Coolant and the Chinese thermostat changed. I have one of the radiator fans motors not working like it should. I drove it for 15-20 minutes in stupid stop and go traffic to pick up the boys from camp in Orlando stagnant heat. 1 mile from the hacienda I got the dreaded exclamation point that she was running hot. Can one fan not blowing full strength cause it to run hot or do I have a few other items to check? Instead of changing one of the motors should I just change both...maybe dual radiator fan set up from 928motorsports?

I have been reading the past posts on the dual fan replacements and/or upgrades from the suppliers. Is this a straightforward job? Not a great wrench but I think I can handle this one as long as the fans have the plug ins and that my plug ins are degraded.
Thinking of upgrading vs. just replacing one motor...thanks
