Just a loose thought. What would a person have to do to the body of a 928 to make it a convertible? Of course cut the back off and stick a soft top on it. But what about the structure of the car?

Can't say for sure, but given that Euros typically are built with less body enhancing structure then typical US models, may not be the best choice for a drop top. If a girlfriend of mine ever did that to my car......she would not have been heard from again.

Chucker .....depends on if you want the doors to open after you cut off the roof !!! Unless you do major amounts of strengthening of the floor and rockers (some added 2x4 steel channels ).....the car has no structural integrity and the flex will often prevent the doors from opening . The concept of a unibody (no frame) car is it all works together , whack of the roof and you have a major engineering challenge or a potentially dangerous car if it gets wrecked . IF this car still has a Euro S CIS engine the value is the heads , cams ,intake ,throttle body and POSSIBLY a good short block ........But given that there is no key it is NOT RUNNING and who ever vandalized it may well have blown up the engine JUST for fun !

The part that kills me is "LEFT SIDE HAS A FEW DINGS AS CAN BE SEEN IN PICS" A few dings? looks like the rear quarter got a big taste of baseball bat!

Ah. good point Jim. I'm was thinking for like a $1,000 it might be worth it but then there is the shipping, and who knows what's left on the car that could be in good enough condition to re-use or sell.

Uhmm....there's no such thing as a "cheap Euro S"- trust me!
N!
MikeN- unless you know something I don't, I believe that the only difference in the body structure of an ROW car is in the doors, which were built without intrusion beams. All cars in the US have been federalized and these bars added. My ROW has them.

I read somewheres that after a certain year the instrusion beams were standard in the ROW cars too.
They are really heavy BTW. Thick steel tubes with with squashed ends that have a single bolt on either end of the doors. (To remove them you have to take out the window guide tube.)

DG84S,
Yeah, me too![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I found myself wondering about the physics of the crash (vectors, force, mass, acceleration) that led to all of the windows in the car being smashed. Judging by the only slightly dented sheet metal on the d.s. rear fender, I must have been something else that led to the missing windows. My guess is bored punka$$ kids in the towne of York, MD where the car is located broke out the windows with rocks, sticks, etc. What a shame...I wonder when the motor was last running? Good parts car for someone...
Best,
Tim
